Dear Valued Customer,

This is the first of a series of future emails that will be sent throughout this critical water year. The intent of these emails is to share useful water saving tips as well as provide you with updates regarding our overall water supply status.

As you know, Northern California is experiencing a historic drought condition which requires all of us to work together to maximize our available water supplies. We appreciate your efforts to date and are here to answer any questions that you may have related to your water use, best ways to conserve as well as what Stage III of the Drought Contingency Plan means to you. Please call us with any questions regarding your usage, your Stage III water budget allocation, or any other items you would like to discuss. We are here to help you!

Water Supply Outlook

Currently, we have a total of 970 acre-feet (AF) of water remaining for all of us to use from April 1st through the end of February 2023. In March the District used 30 AF over what was scheduled. To stay within what we have available for the remainder of the water year, we will need to make up the overage used in March. In April, our scheduled use is 80 AF, so far projections are showing that we may be over by 1 AF. This is showing an improvement as compared to the previous month’s usage. Moving forward it will be just as important to continue and even enhance our conservation efforts so that we can stay within the limited water supply we have available.

Your conservation efforts are starting to show! Way to go and keep it up!

Weather Forecast

While our weather forecast seems to be quite the moving target for this week, one thing for sure is that we are looking at the potential for some rain as well as much cooler temperatures. This again is an opportunity to conserve and save our water for when it gets hot. If you haven’t already done so, please adjust your outdoor watering and turn it off until such time that you really need it.

Water Saving Tips

  • Use a bucket to capture shower/bath water as it heats up
  • Turn off the water as you brush your teeth
  • Consider using hand sanitizer to wash your hands
  • Use more paper plates
  • Use the garbage disposal sparingly; consider composting the waste or putting it in the trash
  • Check for water leaks
  • Check out our website at centervillecsd.com for even more water saving tips

Please contact the office should you have any questions or perhaps you have suggestions for some water saving tips that we can share.

While this extreme drought is a challenging one, it is also an opportunity for us all to work together so that we all succeed!
